Clinical Philosophy

I practice relational, modern psychoanalytic therapy.

We look beyond symptom management to what shapes the symptoms. Your history, relationships, and meanings matter. Our relationship becomes a safe place to try new ways of being.

01.

Whole‑Story Inquiry

Early on, I use a detailed inquiry. The questions we linger on help us map what formed you: what you survived, what you had to leave behind, and what keeps showing up. We return to these reference points as you grow. New things reveal themselves and feelings shift over time.

02.

An orienting principle, not a technique

This inquiry reveals your narrative and lived experience. It keeps us asking a simple guiding question: What do you need from me right now so that something new can happen, or move to resolution?

That question steadies us when things feel fast or murky and helps us fit the work to you rather than the other way around.

03.

Why I do this work

My path into this field was personal before it was professional. I saw what happens when people have to make sense of their lives without a consistent place to do it. I trained to offer that place with rigor and care. I like slow questions and the experience of full answers revealing themselves over time. I like seeing someone feel more like themselves.

Getting Started

What to Expect

We set an initial focus together and let the work unfold from there.

Depth and Attunement

In our work together you will engage in deep and thoughtful work with someone who is attuned and truly focused on you.

Noticing in the Moment

You and I pay close attention to what happens between us in the room, pausing to notice small shifts and trying out new ways of relating.

From Patterns to Choices

Over time, connecting these dots and testing new ways of being will clarify your path, allowing new choices to make sense both inside and outside of therapy.

FAQs

How do we begin?

Book a brief, no-cost call. We’ll talk about what’s bringing you in, what you hope will change, and whether it makes sense to work together. If it’s not the right fit, I’ll be happy to refer you to one of my many capable colleagues.

How is this different from CBT?

We focus on understanding and meaning as the path to durable change. Skills can be integrated when helpful.

How long and how often are sessions?

Standard sessions are 45 minutes, typically once per week. Frequency can shift up or down depending on need and stage of treatment; we’ll decide that together.

How long do people stay in therapy?

It varies. Many people notice shifts as we connect patterns. Sustainable change takes time.

No. I work with individual adults.
